The Council of Priests represents the body of priests in the Diocese and assists Bishop Richard in matters of governance, acting as a consultative body. At a meeting held earlier this month, Council members voted in favour of canonically establishing three new parishes: Brighton & Hove, Guildford, and Weybridge. This marks a significant and unprecedented stage in the development of the Pastoral Plan, with each of the three communities preparing to become a single parish under the care of a Moderator and priests working in solidum with him.
As society becomes more secular our parishes must be ever-clearer beacons of light guiding people to Christ. The new Plan highlights how our community of faith can embrace this important time of renewal, forging diocesan parishes into communities of saints and strong, lively, and welcoming schools of discipleship.
The Pastoral Plan is available to read in two formats below: the full version [18 pages] and an abridged version [10 pages], with hard copies available to read in each parish.
