Baptism

Baptism is the first of three sacraments of initiation and it is therefore a person’s entry into the life of Christ. The first Baptisms were for adults, but probably very early in the history of the church infants were brought for Baptism.

Baptism is only offered for families living in the Worth Abbey Parish and for regular parishioners. If you wish to have your child baptised please contact the Parish Office parish@worth.org.uk or 01342 710313.

For parents-to-be or parents in the parish with new babies our next Baptism Preparation course will run in February/March 2026 in time for Easter Baptisms. The Baptism Preparation Course is a space not only for your child’s baptism but also to rediscover what Baptism means in your own lives.
