Would you like to take part in a Parish-Led Local Social Action Activity this Jubilee Year? As part of the Jubilee Year, the late Pope Francis asked that the worldwide catholic community reach out to six particular groups in their local community: the sick, the elderly, refugees, the young, the poor and prisoners. As part of this, we hope to run two events at a local nursing home (St George’s, Ditchling). We have provisionally set two dates – 30th August for a family recital and 25th October for a reading afternoon. The events can only run if enough people sign up and so we ask those who are interested to add their names on the community board (to the left hand side as you face the bookshop). The recital is for those able to play an instrument, sing or recite poetry. We particularly hope children will sign up. The reading afternoon would involve children (with a parent) taking a favourite book and reading sections to a resident (or a parent reading it for them).
