Friends of Life

Life’s mission is to create a just society which has the utmost respect for all human life from fertilisation to natural death. Life believes that opposition to abortion has to go hand-in-hand with the provision of alternatives. Combining prolife advocacy and education work with nationwide services providing positive alternatives to abortion, Life is unique in the UK.

Life Houses provide a home for vulnerable young women and their babies, supported by Life’s Support Workers. Life will do all it can to maintain the Houses but will need help. Our local group of Friends of Life will continue to raise funds for our Houses – watch this space for news of events later this year.

While Life is a secular charity it fulfils many of the livesimply principles adopted by the parish. Locally, there are Life houses in Haywards Heath and Crawley. Worth parishioners are invited to become Friends of Life. If you would like to visit a House please contact our support workers – Haywards Heath on 07798 827 985 or Crawley on 07789 744 749. If you would like to know more please contact Priscilla and Robin Williamson on 01444 811519 and take a look at ways in which you can support Life.

The Diocese has a Cherish Life Network for people interested in the defence of human life. The Network recognises concerns about essential life-sustaining care and treatment at all stages of life and aims to steer people who have those concerns towards the guidance and support they need:

We are engaged: working together to counter ongoing moves to legalise assisted suicide.

We give witness: opposing the ongoing campaign to legalise abortion without restriction, up to birth. We campaign against this for babies and their mothers, mindful that such moves could potentially deny women the opportunity to explore alternatives and leave them vulnerable to coercion.

We seek to help: we recognise that women sometimes seek an abortion  through a lack of practical and emotional support. We aim to assist organisations who offer such support, as well as those who provide comfort and healing after an abortion.

We need your help – would you like to raise awareness of life issues, meeting and working with others to promote greater awareness and engagement? We welcome new supporters. Please email Tessa.Ricketts@abdiocese.org.uk to be connected to the Cherish Life Network Co-ordinator.
