Life’s mission is to create a just society which has the utmost respect for all human life from fertilisation to natural death. Life believes that opposition to abortion has to go hand-in-hand with the provision of alternatives. Combining prolife advocacy and education work with nationwide services providing positive alternatives to abortion, Life is unique in the UK.
West Sussex County Council has recently announced their decision to make substantial cuts in the budget for Housing Related Support contracts and the Local Assistance Network. The total budget will fall from the current £6.3m in 2019/20 and drop to £2.3m in 2020/21. This will have a serious impact on the Houses for mothers and their babies maintained by Life Charity. A coalition of 14 contracted providers of these services, including LIfe, has been formed to challenge this decision.
Life Houses provide a home for vulnerable young women and their babies, supported by Life’s Support Workers. Life will do all it can to maintain the Houses but will need help. Our local group of Friends of Life will continue to raise funds for our Houses – watch this space for news of events later this year.
While Life is a secular charity it fulfils many of the livesimply principles adopted by the parish. Locally, there are Life houses in Haywards Heath and Crawley. Worth parishioners are being invited to become Friends of Life. If you would like to visit a House please contact our support workers – Haywards Heath on 07798 827 985 or Crawley on 07789 744 749. If you would like to know more please contact Priscilla and Robin Williamson on 01444 811519 and take a look at ways in which you can support Life.
