LIFE at Worth

Jack and Nuala Scarisbrick, who founded the national charity, LIFE in 1979, came to Worth on 20th May 2011 to help launch LIFE's Worth Abbey Support Group.  A number of parishioners came to the meeting, as well as Priscilla and Robin Williamson, Secretary and Chairman of LIFE's local Mid-Sussex Group and Committee member, Les Whittaker, who last year raised £12,000 for LIFE by riding his bicycle 1100 miles from East Grinstead to Auschwitz.

Professor Scarisbrick described the work of LIFE and what inspired him to found the charity over 40 years ago. LIFE is a secular charity, but its mission, to uphold the utmost respect for human life from fertilisation (conception) until natural death, is a fundamental truth of our Catholic faith.

Following the meeting Father James thanked the Scarisbricks for coming to Worth and gave a commitment that the Parish would set up a parish group to support the work of the charity.  More will appear on the website as establishing the group progresses.
