Justice and Peace Group

The Justice and Peace Group expresses the parish's commitment to examining the issues of inequality and unfairness in our world. The prophet Micah tell us:

This is what the Lord asks of you,
    only this, to act justly,
    to love tenderly
and to walk humbly with your God

The purpose of the Justice and Peace Group is to raise awareness of injustice and violence at home and overseas in the light of the Church's social teaching and to foster and encourage action for justice and peace at every level of parish life.

The Group's main work is running Speaker Evenings in which isses are raised and discussed, led by well known activists. Recent evenings have featured the work of CAFOD, the Medaille Trust for trafficked women, the Gatwick Detainees Welfare Group, the Jubilee Campaign and the link between poverty and violence from Pax Christi.

The Group is led by Cynthia Haynes and includes Deacon Chris, Sister Jo Threlfall, Geraldine Constable, Catherine and Mike Goodridge, Mary Field, Sue Garner and Nicola Whitehead.
