This is the sacrament which brings the grace of Jesus’ healing power to those who are seriously ill or aged or preparing for a major operation. Jesus exercised a powerful healing ministry, and his power is shared by the minister of this sacrament through the grace of God and the authority of his Church.
The signs of the sacrament are the laying on of hands and the anointing of hands and forehead. The result is that the person receiving the sacrament is given either a physical or spiritual healing - to cure or to enable them to be strong in living with their infirmity.
