Reconciliation

Return of the Prodigal Son

Reconciliation used to be called Confession. The new name gives a better understanding of the meaning of the sacrament. The symbol of this sacrament is the laying on of hands together with the words of absolution. This action sacramentally makes real the loving forgiveness of the Father, and the penitent is reconciled with Him.

The Sacrament of Reconciliation is available before Mass on Sunday morning from 9.10 am in the Reconciliation Rooms at the back of the Church. Three times a year a Reconciliation Service is celebrated – in Lent, the summer, and during Advent. In addition the sacrament is available on request. Children celebrate this sacrament as part of their preparation for First Communion
