Pilgrimage to Walsingham, July 16th - July 18th 2010
19 people from Worth Abbey Parish and St Leonard's, Turners Hill spent the weekend of July 16th - July 18th at the Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham. Walsingham is in north Norfolk, not far from Cromer, and from the 11th Century, broken only by 400 years following the Reformation, it has been a place of pilgrimage for Christians. It is famed for its replica of the Holy House of Nazareth and for its healing wells. During the pilgrimage the group said the Stations of the Cross, celebrated the Eucharist in both rites, walked in pilgrimage to the Slipper Chapel and processed around the Shrine of Our Lady singing Ave, Ave Maria. The group met the former Auxiliary Bishop of Chichester, Lindsay Urwin, now the Shrine Director, who spoke about the history of the Shrine and about Anglo-Catholicism today
During 2009-2010 the Group organised various activities:
The Annual Parish 'Day Retreat' at Worth Abbey
Lent and Advent activities for the Junior Church
Days of meditation and discussion for Eucharistic Ministers prior to their annual re-commissioning
Stations of the Cross and talks on the Fridays of Lent
Parish Trip to the Corpus Christi Procession and Mass at Arundel Cathedral (organised by Michael Weston-Burt)
