A Day Out in Boulogne, Saturday, May 22nd

Forty seven people went on the parish trip to Boulogne on a lovely day for a good lunch and a saunter round the town and beach

Curry and Quiz Evening, Saturday October 24th

Although the ladies of the Parish Events Group team (PEG) had agreed to wear saris, in keeping with the theme of the evening, it was a nice surprise to see that so many of those attending had also decided to wear appropriate costume.

With everyone clearly in the mood, the Refectory venue, colourfully decorated by the PEG team, proved to be an ideal and popular choice and a really fun atmosphere prevailed. Headed up by a very competent quizmaster in Helen Pointer, the quiz team performed a great job in keeping everyone struggling to find answers to a series of daunting questions. This was serious business!

After the frst 45-minute session it was with some relief that there was a break for a really great curry and a selection of desserts prepared by Emma and her Refectory team, accompanied by wines, beers and soft drinks.

The second quiz session was no less daunting than the first and, rather like the game of pass the parcel, the teams did all they could to avoid the humiliation of being awarded the booby prize for the lowest score at the end of each round. Many failed!

The eventual winners, the Delhi Dynamos - all looking very pleased with themselves - were each awarded a bottle of wine and a selection of Indian spices. On the basis of the success of the evening a Curry and Quiz Night could well prove to be a regular feature on the Parish social calendar

A Day Out in Le Touquet

Saturday, 9th May, adjacent to the piazza at Worth, everyone on time and an on
schedule departure by coach at 7.00 am. Exactly 3 hours later - by way of Folkestone
and Le Shuttle through the Channel Tunnel to Calais - 51 trippers were delivered to
Restaurant Le Jardin in Place de l'Hermitage in the centre of Le Touquet.

Travelling on an earlier shuttle than scheduled, our arrival was almost an hour before
we were expected, and so most took the opportunity for a stroll, a coffee or an aperitif before lunch.

With fine weather the restaurant arranged seating on long trestle tables in the open-air part of the restaurant. The al fresco environment was just right for people to engage with one another and, with choices made from the a la carte menu and the wine list, all enjoyed the lively atmosphere and the typical French cuisine.

Lunch complete, some took a stroll on the famous beach, others visited fashion boutiques and many took the opportunity to buy goodies - cheeses, wines and the renowned fish soup made by Perard.

Le Touquet has its own unique atmosphere and it was clear that people were enjoying the experience before, all too soon it seemed, they were boarding the coach for the return journey to Worth - where we arrived safe, sound and happy by 8.30 in the evening.

From this second such trip the consensus seems to be that the Parish Events Group should make this a regular feature on the Parish social calendar.  Martin Harewood
